"Pest" snails are usually a pretty good indication that you are over feeding or under cleaning. How often do you change water and do you gravel vac each time? What size tank by the way? You can usually eliminate them by manually removing as many as possible and correcting the excess nutrient issues.
Or you can take them out by hand.
Its not to bad for me. I have 2 apple snails. And 8 pond snails in my 90 litre tank (20 gallons) but i can put the pond snails out side if the get to much because i have koi carp in my garden.
(see my pics)
To remove a bunch quickly, leave a net in the tank overnight with some veggies like zucchini or lettuce in it. In the morning remove the net and all the snails feeding on the veg.
