Help tank leaking in fishless cycle

Hi my tanks leaking mid cycle.I've got a new tank from a friend but my filter won't fit new tank.I don't want to loose my bacteria and new filter media is different.what would you suggest.could I put old media in bottom of tank for a while thanks so much in advance

It would be better if you could position the old media where current can pass through it rather than at the bottom. What brand/type is the old and new filters?

The one in biolife is thick hard blocks.but sponges and little hollow tube like sponges in new one
