Where I place mine depends on what kind of flow and how much light they need and the availability of a open space for it compared to other coral in the tank
i would start all corals close to the bottom and slowly raise them up to the best place for them, so to acclimate them to your lighting. in most cases, LFS tanks have poor lighting and the wholesale warehouses that they buy the coral from don't go overboard with their lighting either. i would raise corals up over a week period.
well, if you have the same lighting, it shouldn't, but if that guy had halides and you t5s, or vice versa, it still might be a good idea to light acclimate.
