I ordered it as ammannia senegalensis, but it doesn't look like this

You have probably received emersed stems. New growth should look more like the first picture. I like cutting off the new submerged growth early and getting as much as I can before emersed stems die. There may be better methods though.

Yep, I totally agree with czcz. That really looks like emersed growth. Should be interesting to watch it transform
