My snail has all this white slime-ish stuff around it. Is it dead?

Snails naturally have slime its normal. Is he moving & eating? A pic could help

Is he active? If you have a dead snail it smells really bad & doesn't react if you touch its foot. So maybe try this first unless he's moving

I can't smell know, have a cold. Don't want to risk getting him sick. :l
