Hi I have a dragon tail red and white male beta fish his name is bob and when I first got him he was fine but now he won't swim stays at the top of the bowl or the bottom. He's not bloated or swimming on his side but his scales look like they are sticking out but it's really hard to tell. He doesn't have dropsy because he's not hiding or skittish! I don't know what's wrong! PLEASE HELP

Are his fins sticking out like a pinecone? A picture would help.

Not all fish will hide or become skittish when ill.

It could just be that maybe he needs a hiding place. Bettas love caves to hide in and leaves to lounge on.

Thank you he lives in a 2 gallon vase I need to get him a new one but I will get him a cave. No his fins don't stick out but his fins do looked scrunched up. I don't have a picture of him right now but I will try what you said. He may just be old
