Found this guy hitching a ride on my hermit crab. Is he a safe one to have? He just hangs out on the glass most of the time.

You mean the asterina star? They are generally considered harmless. Film algae eaters. There are loose and largely unsubstantiated reports of certain varieties (mostly the darker blue ones) munching on soft corals, but to the best of my knowledge, this has never been proven.
Some people do not like them simply because they breed like crazy. I tend to leave them alone because I've never seen them hurt anything.

Addendum. In the first few days of cycling, I witnessed a very slow battle between a large asterina and a small stomatella snail. It was like a slow motion death match. Very amusing hour.
It was a stalemate, for the record. Lol

I bought an alveopora today. Now I have been reading many conflicting reports about these guys. Low flow, high flow, hard to care for, not hard to care for. Anyone with experience have some suggestions? The internet is everywhere on this one.

Will it eat cyclopeeze?

Looks like I will be starting a new thread soon. My buddy offered me his 72g bow front predrilled with wet dry sump for free. It has a cracked frame so I have to order a new frame and replace it. Also going to paint the stand a dark brown instead of the current oak color.

Some photo updates
first two are of my new feather duster that popped up.

third is holy stomatellas. all of those white dots are stomatellas. time to give some away.

4th shot is of tank as is. I need more rock and am going to get some after I move.

5th shot is my montypora capricornis (growing pretty quick)

6th shot is another pic of my feather with fred(sea urchin) going around and eating all my prized corralline. Bastard! Too cool to give away though.

my alveopora has not been extending fully lately. Any advice? I know these are tough to keep but I would like to try and keep them around.

all levels are good ph at 8.1. Only thing different I noticed is that my pistol buried the base of the frag so i pulled them out and placed them back on top to see what will happen

Looks good! the sol's make a huge difference!

I don't know about the lobo, it doesnt seem off to me, but the picture isnt of it specifically. That might help others if there's a problem with it.
