Aquarium Advice Apprentice
Hey guys really have enjoyed reading all of the advice on this site, couldn't have even begun without the info I've gathered from your posts. Here's what I'm doing so far. I have a 45 gallon tank, built my own stand and canopy (crappy pic from my phone included below) koralia PH, prizm skimmer (mixed reviews on this so far but thought I'd take the chance), marineland stealth 200w heater (liked it cause of the wattage and the length of the heater cause my tank is 24 inches deep) 30lbs of carib sea arag and 40lbs of carib sea live arag (they only had one bag of 30lb dry arag so they gave me this for the same price) and about 60lbs of dry lava, coquina and limestone from a local stone supplier. That's all I have so far, got the salinity right today and I'm waiting for the sediment to settle (pic below) early next week I'm gonna get a filter (recommendations appreciated, looking at marineland penguin or rena smart) I have a local connection for some live rock (gonna get bout 10 to 15lbs) then gonna get a couple of dead shrimp and wait to see what happens, not too concerned with lighting so far cause I won't be needing it for a few days/weeks I'll probably go with something that I'll be able to do some soft corals in the future. My goal now is to get things going and add a CUC in a few weeks then add maybe 3 or 4 fish (clown, gobie, and whatever else my research/your recommendations find) slowly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. One question is should I have the skimmer on while I'm cycling my LR.
