Hi! Neon Tetra with lost tailfin.

Hi!
I am new here and I have a question about my Neon Tetras. Just now I was cleaning out my tank and I noticed one of my Tetras ( male) has completely lost his tail fin. I wasn't sure if I should put him back in the tank with his mates or let him recover. If it was the cause of a tank fight, what is an option for me?
