Hello from a newbie to all things fish! Not having learned about fishless cycling until it was too late , I am now trying to stabilize my 10 gal tank that's about 4 weeks old. Here are my levels based on API Master test kit -
PH: 7.6
Ammonia: .25ppm
Nitrite: 5.0 ppm
Nitrate: 0
Population (probably overstocked by 20%):
2 mollies
1 guppy
3 black skirted tetras
3 neon tetras
I've done 30% water changes the last two days (twice a day, and still not getting any results.... also added Prime, but not a high dose. Had a molly in the tank that was lethargic for about a week and laying on the bottom until she died, now two other mollies are also laying on the bottom.... and I fear they will also go the way of the flush funeral before it's all stabilized.
what's the right level of water changes (% and frequency), or do I just need to wait for the nitrite spike to level out and pray my other mollies pull through? any advice would be greatly appreciated!
