Hood/Lighting Help

I just purchased a 35 gallon tank from someone and I am finding that the fluorescent lighting is very dim. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to replace the lid. The measurements on the tank is 36" long by 12 1/2" wide. The current hood measures 35" long by 11 1/4" wide. The tank appears to have been made in 1990. I would like to replace the hood with led lighting, any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

I would just put glass tops on the tank and buy lighting that sits on top instead of an integrated hood.

Any suggestions on how to figure out the glass size I would need?

If it is a standard tank than the standard 36" top would probably fit. If it isn't than you would need to make something custom.
