Horseface Loach (Acantopsis choirorhynchus)

We called them Horsehead Loach.

Is anyone here keeping (or has more recently kept) these?

When I was a kid we always had these.

Now in my main tank, I have Eco Complete, which I was considering putting a couple of these in. It seems really scratchy and probably not a good substrate for them, in which case I wouldn't get them for that tank.

Any thoughts or comments about these guys. If you keep them and did so successfully, what conditions, parameters, salt, foods, etc. which you can share would be greatly appreciated. Along the same line, what didn't work?
Thanks in advance!

There will be a different tank I will be setting up for a relative and depending maybe just use sand (haven't done the stocking list yet).

I have 2 in my 75 gal. I have pool sand for the bottom. My tank is heavily planted. They ear my left over fish food. They seem really happy and are easy to keep. Sometimes I feed them algae wafers. They like those BUT so does everybody else in the tank.
