Okay so I'm from the UK and during summer the nights are short. The room lights usually go off around 12.00 midnight. The tank light goes off around 9.00pm. During the summer months we start getting light around 5.00am. I know the fish need around 12 hours dark and 12 hours light. The room has 2 big windows with vertical blinds which block out some light. But the room does get quite lighty around sunrise. That would only mean around 5 hours pitch darkness and rest just a little darkness. Is this okay for fish? Would I be better covering the tank with something for 12 hours? The tank 60l has plenty plants 6 in fact to provide oxygen. Any thoughts?

I don't think it will be an issue.
A Finnex 24/7 LED runs on my Planted tank and it think it only gets 3-4 hours of darkness (there are a lot of dim hours in the cycle).

It's not so much about the hours, as the cycle.

They have their own circadian clock, same as any other living thing, and know that dark follows light.

Fish in the wild have zero control over the lights.

As long as they're getting some dark each night, they'll be fine.
