i want to set up a QT and keep it running but i dont want the water in there to go bad.
how do u maintain a QT?
is it just water changes?
do i need a filter?

if the fish do get sick and u use copper doesn't it kill l the bacteria? and therefore make the filter useless?

The QT should be without rocks or sand. Get a couple of PVC pipe couplings from hardware store the size that would fit your fish to hide. It is the substitute for rocks. You can use a hang on filter (size not critical) just to remove solid waste. The quality of water is maintained by just doing pwc. It should also have small power head for water circulation and a heater. You only set it up whenever you need it.
