I went to a wildlife refuge not far from here called Lone Elk Park and took my camera. First stop: the bird sanctuary. Forget the cage is there, and this would've been a nice pose from our national bird.
Winding through the park, we happened upon these two elk hangin' out in the shade.
Then, out of the car to get closer to see some elk in the lake. But on the way there, I was sidetracked by turtles! There was a couple there feeding them from a big jar of reptile food, so it was quite a scramble for them. You could see them coming from far out with their mouths out of the water.
To my left, a long view of the lake
And to my right: the elk cooling off on their side. In those trees behind them were the two that were lying in the shade.
There is also a whole section with bison, but I think they were all staying hidden in the shade.
Right before we reached the exit, we found this little guy out for dinner.
Hope you all had a good 4th!
