Okay, here's what I have in my 55 gallon right now:

1 African Butterfly Fish
1 Brown African Knife Fish
1 Six Inch Pleco
2 Angelfish
5 Rosy Barbs
4 Serpae Tetras

I've always been bad at judging with is understocked, just right, or overstocked.

How would you rate my situation?

I inherited this tank after my father passed away and I had never really looked at what he had in there until I got it. The pleco looks like a common (which of course I know would be a big problem – no pun intended), but I can't believe that he is since he's only about 6 inches (if not 5) and he's been in the tank for more than 4 years...

i would say yes. the knife gets to be what a foot long right? to me thats a little small for a 1 foot fish even if its not too active. i would get a pic of the pleco see if we can figure it out. maybe you got luck and its not a common. what are you feeding the pleco?
