How long can i introduce light in my reef tank?

Anyone can suggest to me how long my tank should rceived a 11watt light per day? I worried if my tank got problm due to excessive light..

I run my lights for 8 hours and the rest of the time I just use moonlights.

My lighting schedule varies with what I have in the tank. Mine go from 6 to 8 hours the tank that I leave on for 8 has a BTA. Then on the weekends or when I am home from work I leave the lights on a lot longer usually just to sit and watch it the tanks.

Is there any effect if i still switch on for a whole day?

Personally I wouldn't do it day after day but once a week on the weekend should be ok. I have noticed when I leave my lights on longer than normal the fish seem to get cranky with one another.

If you don't have nocturnal fish you should be ok.
