Got it, thanks. Yes, I understand my levels will still take some time to reach 0...esp. with my filter error.

So I will continue with the big pwc for the time of being and will test, test, test!

Keep them at 0.25ppm!!!! WHAT!!!! They should be lower than that on a regular bases.

.25 or lower in ammonia/nitrite is a relatively safe range. A cycling tank has to have some kind of toxins in it in order for the bacteria to feed on it, the important part is keeping the toxin level low enough so that the fish dont suffer any ill effects because of it.
