How long did you have your salt water tank cycling before you put fish or anything else in it?

I waited about 2 months before I added my first fish, but my cycle ended in about 3-4 weeks.

oh great. Someone at our lfs told my brother in law it would take a year to cycle it and we couldnt beleive that so i thought i would ask. cause im intrested.. in it..

It usually takes depending on size of tank about 4-6-8 weeks. As canyon said once your ammonia and nitrites are at 0 after they spike then you should be good to go.

I just cycled my 150 in 3 weeks with 120 lbs of live rock.

maybe you are confusing "cycled" with "seasoned".
