How many hrs should I keep my tank lights on

I have a 55 gallon tank w plants and fish how many hr should I keep it on I have t8 lights and what time should i turn it on and off thank you!

If that's real bamboo, it actually shouldn't be growing submerged. The top leaves need to be out of the water. You could probably get away with 8 or 9 hours of lighting, but if you start getting algae back down an hour or two.

When my tank was unplanted with the weak hood light, we never paid attention to the time that the tank light stayed on. It was probably 12-14 hours.

Now it's planted and I have a medium-high light and I have to stick to around 7hrs or I get a problem with algae.
