So one thing lead to another and another one to another, you know how it goes. I picked up a 90, I had pool filter sand, enough to do my 55, but then realized I would need more for the 90. Well then I seen some Carib Sea Eco complete aquariums and like it MUCH better for planted tanks. The price though, WOW, $28 for a 20lb bag on Amazon.com. I am also reading it needs more than the usually 1lb per gallon. So guys, how much? Also how thick will it need to be?

I just bought 180lbs for my 90. 120lbs Eco complete fine black and 60lbs flourite black sand. I'm using all the Eco first and the flourite to finish and use in 2 smaller tanks.

I'd go 3"+ in areas with root feeders and less with plants that feed from the water column.

I think the Seachem web site has a calculator, you can enter the inches you want and find out how much you need, hope this helps
