My wife got one of those small 5 - 6 gallon desktop tanks as a gift. We set it up at her workplace with just two flame gouramis and a couple of live plants, might add some corys later.
The filtration on it is surprisingly decent for a mini-tank: multi-stage with foam, carbon, phospate (I think?? is that the white rock-looking stuff?) and plastic ball things for biological filtration. Appears better than one of those cheapo all-in-one tanks you'd get at Wal-mart which I know have notoriously poor filtration systems. This one even has a glass tank instead of plastic and the compact flourescent fixture has a small built-in fan.
I told her to feed the fish sparingly to avoid a lot of waste build-up. However, I am wondering how to sweep the gravel in such a small tank...do they make small sweepers that can be used in something like this?
