How to set up my tank?

I have a aqua one 165 litre tank. I wanna start again and just have plecs, guppies and cherry shrimp. Is it best to use sand or gravel?? How many of each do u think I need to breed. All ideas welcome

I'm pretty sure you can breed guppies without even having any it's that easy

But seriously 3 guppies (1M 2F) and 2 bristlenoses with plenty of caves. No idea about the shrimp sorry.

My understanding is play sand tends to be finer than the recommended pool filter sand but if you can't get pool filter sand play sand is a reasonable substitute.

Be sure to rinse it thoroughly and expect it to take a while to settle every water change.

On the condition you turn it off during water changes and let the sand settle before turning it back on, no.
