How to tell if something is tank safe?

I have this cermic type fish that I have had for years and was wondeirng what I need to do to find out if it would be safe to put in an aquarium. It is decorated to look like drift wood so I think it would look really cool in there if I can find otu if its safe.

I'm sure it would be fine if you coated it in an aquarium safe sealant. I've never used it before but I'm sure you can find lots of good information if you google it. I've seen the guys on that show "Tanked" use some kind of sealant on their stuff.
