I've been told it's both.; however I want to know which, so I can care for it correctly and cuz I think one can be bad for other corals. Since I've gotten it with a piece of live rock, the coral has grown about a centimeter all around.

Can anyone definitively identify this guy?

It might be encrusting hydnophora (hydnophora exesa).

I don 't think there is a coral called "hydrophria" (maybe they meant hyndophora).

Recommend a 4"-6" coral free zone around this type of coral; they can be quite competitive with other corals in their proximity and often come out on top.

Sorry. Typo. I mean hydrophoria. But I'll check out the one you referred to. Thanks.

All the polyps are like 2mm tall 1mm in diameter. So I dunno if that's what it is.
