Can anyone tell me what this is? Not the big white sponge but the little tentacles coming out of the rock directly under it.

It has an oral disk and a mouth its tentacles are clear with white tips

It's a corynactis. Perfectly safe, and common in new tanks.

Its not a new tank though?

It only comes out at night.

Then you have a healthy tank that has kept it alive. Corynactis are fascinating little animals. Quite self sufficient in a healthy reef tank.

Can they detach themselves and move?

I don't know if the can move or not. I have never had one move.
