Hello,

Can anyone identify this water organism? It is about 12mm long. Is it a friend or foe?

I have a 26 gal tank with tetras and lots of plants. I found this little guy attached to one of my cabombas.

Any info on this would be appreciated.

Thank you in advanced.

It is a bit difficult to tell from the picture but it is definitely an insect larva....either a damselfly or dragonfly, I'd suspect. Both are foes....and regardless of which it is you'll want to keep it away from your fish.

I'll also vouch dragonfly, awesome creatutre to watch, but I have seen 1"ers attacking 6" goldies in my pond. They are killing machines from the word go.
