IME on a nano system water changes over a skimmer. I bought one for my 9 gallon but it never stopped making micro bubbles. Good luck!

I use the biocube skimmer on my 14g Biocube, it's not to expensive and it works pretty well. I don't have any problem with micro bubbles or anything else.

I also bought the skimmer for the cube originally it fits well but never worked well. It uses a air stone which needs replaced at times here's another pic of the aquatic life

It isn't. Weekly water changes will take care of it.
