i need a fish id please

this guy is a barb, but i'm not sure what kind. He lives in a 25g tank in my daughters playroom, and is really pretty and quite active.

VERY well done, savga. Definitely Puntius denisonii, a recently discovered (and possibly endangered) barb. They are GREAT fish but much prefer to be in a small school.

There is very little information available yet on Puntius denisonii and much of what's out there is pure guesswork. I've kept three of them in a tank with Blue Gouramis, Tiger Barbs and a bunch of loaches and didn't have any problems at all. They ate practically everything....except algae wafers which they didn't seem at all interested in (everything else in the tank would eat them though....including the Tiger Barbs). To my knowledge, Puntius denisonii has NOT been bred in captivity which is why the price is usually quite high on them. I paid $32 U.S. a fish for mine.
