I'm looking for input on this subject. I want to start one in a 20 high and I'm wondering how many bettas I should get. Well, actually I want to know if this is a good idea in the first place and what everyone thinks of it. If anyone has a setup like this how do you like it?

Hi,

So your tank is 24"x12"x16"?

I am also working with my first sorority... but they are in a community tank.

Based on my research:

Bettas adjust best to company when they are getting a bigger tank. So be sure to add them all at the same time. (Perhaps after individual quarantine).

They each want a 5 gallon territory, and some of your size is added height... So three might be safer than four.

Break up line of sight.

Get young, small bettas - sisters if possible.

Also, each fish is unique. Some bettas are meaner than others.

I put mine together in isolation to see if I had any "firecrackers." I did, and so I kept three mellow ones.
