I read about the ratio of gallons per...critter i guess but that really doesnt apply well to my tank. my tank is 47 gal but its tall so I dont have a lot of surface area for them to cover, I currently have like 8 hermints, blue and red, not the fire red just the dark versions.. probably like 7 nassarius snails and 2 turbo's 1 zebra and 1 mexican and 1 emerald carb, he was a free hitchhiker.

these are a couple pics of the tank so far so you can get an idea if the height vs width...am i wrong if going with a smaller cleaner crew or should I add some or something specific like a brittle star or sand sifting star or what?

What you have is okay for now. Just watch and see what happens. You can add more later if you need to.

Your tank is too small for a sand sifting star. He would wipe out your fauna in the sand bed pretty quick and starve to death.
