I thought that might be the case when it didn't have the roots I got used to with the other plants & I couldn't I'd it.

How long would it likely last before it dies & I have to remove it? It does look good.
I made the same mistake. The plants lasted a little over a month before they started dissolving. If you haven't thrown them out, put them in a pot on your window sill and they will do well.

I will get some rooting powder & put it in the window sill, see if it takes of as a plant!
Any ideas on plants we could replace it with in the tank? I like the coloration & the height, is there anything similar?
That color, no, but there are plenty of cool fully aquatic plants that are hardy. I've just gotten into Crypts they may melt at first, but should come back.
