If I took a plant and broke it in half and put it back in the ground would it start to regrow?

If it were a regular plant in your garden it would regrow. I don't know about the aquarium plants though.

It all depends on why type of plant it is. If it is anacharis or hornwort, then most definitely yes. Please post what type of plant this is so we can better answer your question.

It depends on how you are trying to do the propagation. If you are taking cuttings and trying to get a root system to develop, not all plants can be started that way. If you are trying to split the plant down the middle so you have some roots and some stem, not all plants can be started that way either. :)

For a root system to develop from a cutting, the plant has to have ground meristem on the cutting. Some plants have ground meristem throughout the plant, making it easy to start from a cutting. Others do not. As Stewie said, we really need to know which type of plant you are talking about.

For the most part, any of the bunching plants. such as anacharis or hornworrt, will start from a cutting.
