Look It Up
Hi and welcome! A 120 gal Cichlid tank? I'm so jealous! LOL
Good job on getting the API kit; it's a must-have, really.
Prime is a dechlorinator which you'll need to use to treat your water before water changes. It's really the best one out there. Purigen is different and you probably won't need it.
So you're going to upgrade your current Cichlid tank into this one? Buy your new canister (a canister is probably a must for a tank size that large. I think either the 5x5 or Eheim would be a good choice. You could fill it with media you have on your current Cichlid tank and then fill the rest with new media if there's room, then just move the fish right over. As you add more fish just to it slowly and monitor your water in the meantime in case of any temporary toxin spikes while the bacteria adjust.
Also how do you change water now? Do you use buckets or do you have an automatic changer? if you use buckets, a changer like the Aqueon is a must-have; you hook it up to your faucet and can drain and refill the water without using buckets. Much faster and easier too.
Two heaters would probably be needed; try to get something adjustable. The Aqueon heaters have worked well for me.
Good luck and post if you have more questions!
