I was looking at my pond and noticed a bunch of these little things, anybody have any idea what kind of larvae it is? I'm wondering if I'd be able to feed them to my cichlids. I live in Alberta, Canada if that helps.

They seem to be crawling around the rocks and hanging onto algae. They seem to have some hair looking things coming out of their back ends

Also the pond is filtered and has a stream that they were hangin out in so I'd say probably not mosquito

Put em in a glass and I've ID'd them as mayfly and blackfly larvae, both are present in large numbers. Do fish like these? Or is it a better idea just to steer clear just in case?

Oh fish love em! When the mayfly turn into adults, you have perfect bluegill bait!!
