I just got back into hobby, have a 10g for a betta, purchsed an aquaeon quiet flow 30 as suggested by PetSmart fish person. it realy pushed my betta around if he swims in front of it. is this too much flow for a 10g? how could I reduce the flow rate and would it be harmful for filter?

Hi bobc4d
bettas don't really like a lot of water movement on the surface I know my betta didn't like it when I had a fast flowing filter the Aquarion flow 30 filter is probably a little bit overkill for the tank but shouldn't effect anything. To stop the flow try buying more denser filter media or get a loofah and rinse it in some aquarium water and then put it over where the flow is coming out of the filter and it will help slow the flow
