Is it true that bacteria would grow faster in higher temp?If not .What is the ideal temp to grow bacteria AFAP?
Thanks

Bacteria Temp

Hi Mr.Fish. Generally most bacteria will grow faster at warmer temps. If you stay in the 85 to 90 degree range you should get maximum growth. After that range certain bacteria will not survive. This is not a scientific answer. Just my personal observation and experience. - Guppyman

I read in my pond book that the NH3 eating bacteria grows best in high 70's, (and won't grow at all under 50F). The nitrifying bugs (NO2 -> NO3) are fussier, and quit when temp hit low 60's.

For fastest growth of most bacteria type, 37.5C (99.5 degrees F) is the optimal temperature. Obviously this isn't practical in the aquarium. Guppyman's range is about right. Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter will grow very quickly between 85-90 degrees F.

so, moral of the story .... crank that heater to MAX for a fishless cycle?
