Is this a jack dempsey ???

Hello I need to know if this fish is a jack dempsey or not and if it is , is it male or female ???

They're very nice. They can look like this as an adult. They get large though

Not sure but I do believe the terror in there name doesn't serve them justice. There probably only as aggressive as any other cichlid you keep. As In size there in the medium range so he shouldn't be to bad. I would do a little more research. Very nice fish

+1 to a GT, they reach 10-12". Typically a 55g is the recommended tank size for a solo fish. As far as aggression, they are the same as many CA cichlids, it's individually the temperament of the fish. Some could be killers or some could be community friendly.

Well I ran up to petsmart and got me a jack dempsey he looks rather yellow though lol

What's that mean if he's yellow ? Is he stressed or something cause I no they normally are bluish color ?

Yeah but it's a juvie, he will grow into his spangles, also being do new it needs time to adjust.
