Ok well at 5" I would have expected a male to have started getting his blue colouring so I'd say female.What other fish are in the tank with this one as sometimes that can affect a males colouring up.

I agree, at 5" it should have a nice blue coming in.

I just bought it and it was that colour. It was with other large peacocks. Now it's the only peacock in my tank

Little heads up its not a peacock it's a haplochromis or hap.

Also these fish can grow up to 11" in length and really require a 125 g tank minimum IMO
Not sure what size tank you have but its something to think about.
