I have a 10 gallon tank with 7 tetras, 2 guppies and 3 ADFs.

It was fully cycled before I added them a month ago. Water tests were great.

Over the past week ammonia has been building up despite water changes. It's only at around .25 but I'm concerned. There are nitrates and no nitrites.

Does anyone have some advice?

Thanks :)

NOTE: I have a 29 gallon show tank which is stocked with:

2 Kribenses
8 Harlequin Rasbora
2 Moonlight gouramis (2 inch each)

I think I'd be ok moving my 7 Rumy Nose Tetras from the 10 gallon to the 29 to take the load off the 10g. Would love some opinions though :)

Fish less cycle with media from an established tank

hmmm.. that's strange.. maybe you are just over stocked and the bioload is causing problems. I don't know anything about ADF and little about guppies so can't really say for sure on the bioload they produce but personally I'd try and rehome the tetras is they would get along with the other fish in the 29.

I'd suggest a larger tank for that stock. Short of that, a second filter may help. With a 10 that loaded, good weekly 50%+ PWCs (if not more often) will likely be required. IMO

I moved the tetras to the 29 gallon tank. Man!! What a show!

15 minutes of 19 fish swimming around going "WHAT THE????!!!"

They're all calming down now and learning to accept the new neighbours. Cool thing is the Harlequins are schooling more than they were.
