java ferm rhizome question...

My java ferns rhizome is covered with leaf litter/moss, will this affect its growing or should i clear them of debris?
they are attached to lava rock and wood on the bottom of the tank.

As long as it isn't buried it should be fine. Just keep an eye on it and if it seems to be having issues then clear it off. But I have found with java fern the less you do with them the happier they are.
