Java fern in substrate

Will Java Fern be ok slightly buried in my substrate (sand)? I had so much leftover I just started sticking here and there.

Just don't bury the rhizome. It does better tied to driftwood or rocks.

Yeah this is what I have read but it us difficult, thank you. I will cross my fingers.
 
It doesn't do better any particular way IMO. I've got some zip tied to driftwood, some with the roots down in the substrate. Neither does any better than the other... its really just how you want it.
