Here is a pic of my java moss. It is browning in places, is this normal and also my platy fish is nibbling at the brown parts. Is this okay?

Yep that's normal and fine for the fish.

Brown can either mean dead or dying leaves, or moss' 'roots'.
I was worried too when I ordered Flame and Xmas moss from Taiwan and it had some brown on it.
They said don't worry, and if 1 side has more brown than the other, put the brown side down onto whatever you want it to hold on to.
