Hey! I'm new to the forum and fish keeping, so here's my first post. I just got a 25 gallon tank today and am planning on setting it up saltwater! Just wondering what would be a good time period to let it cycle? I'm going to put about 10-15 gallons of salt water from my girlfriends already established tank in along with 10 gallons of premixed salt water I'm also going to put a little bit of her live rock and sand in there as well. Also any suggestions for what type of fish I could put in there? Planning on having some corals to probably a Kenya tree and some pumping xenias to start out! Any advice would be great!

The cycle of a tank is diferent fpr every one. My tank cycled in a week and some tanks take months. Make sure you get a good test kit and test every day and youll know when the cycle is complete.

I plan on it my gf has a test kit she's going to let me use. I'm planning to put the water in it tomorrow along with a little bit of live rock! I'm pretty pumped! I'm planning on starting out with 2 ocellaris clown after that I'd really like to get a 6 line rasse and then a firefish but I'm really not sure how many fish can go in here.

We are also going to use some filter media from my tank to jump start a cycle.

These are the fish I'm planning on putting in my 25 gallon as of right now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Ocellaris (2)
Orange fire fish
Royal gamma
6 line wrasse
Sand sifting goby

Got the water and live rock in there had a few hermit crabs get in there too they are doing great and there's a mushroom too that's doing just fine!

6 line wrasse are aggressive and I wwouldn't put one in. Make sure your rock is on the bottom of the tank becuse any sand borrowers will make the rock work collapse. I use HO t5 96 watts on my 25

I have a 6 line wrasse and I haven't had any problems. Occasionally he will find a tasty snail or hermit crab, but he's never been aggressive towards another fish or shrimp. Same fish was in my brothers tank for 1.5 years. No problems there either.

Never owned one, its just the research I've done on it. Personally I think a yasha goby and a pistol shrimp combo would be better

I wouldnt get a sand sifting goby till the tank is estavblished. You dont want it to starve.

I'm not planning on getting everything right away they were kind of in the order I was planning on getting them.

What types of corals would y'all recommend. I was thinking with starting out with a Kenya tree and some pumping xenias. Also I have two t5 high output bulbs on it right now and was planning on adding two more very very soon any thoughts on lights too?

Anyone have any suggestions as far as coral and rock placement or anything else? I added another filter and aqueon quiet flow 30 so now I have 2 filters on there next I'm going to add another set of lights!!

Maybe some acans or blastos? Can be a bit pricey but they are pretty easy to care for and come in some great colors

Added some chaeto. Don't know if I like it setup like that any suggestions?
