Live rock in freshwater?

I saw some setups that were freshwater and had what looks like live rock. They look awesome, but I thought you could only put it in saltwater? If you can use it in freshwater I'd love to do that in my cichlid tank...

Are you sure its not something like lace rock or similar.

True "live" rock cannot be used in fw. If it has been allowed to dry and cleaned of all bacteria, it might be possible. But it would seem to me it would allow for a lot of algae growth. Why not just get some fw stones? There are some amazing types!
