lonely discus

I have a discus that lost its mate for unknown causes and I don't know what to do. will it be ok alone? I don't wana go buy buy 5 more six inch discus that are $70 each just to find this one another mate. will it be ok as a loner or will I have to give it to someone with a some more discus??
