Making room for HOB filter

I have a glass top over my tank. I bought a HOB filter. Now here is the question. There is a plastic piece on the end of the glass top. What do you use to cut this piece of plastic to make room for the filter and other things? My scissors aren't that strong to go through it, at least I don't think they are. Maybe I just need to get another better pair. What does everyone use to cut this plastic?

If scissors don't work I use a garden pruner.

I use an electrical wire cutter.

If I used that wire cutter QTOFFER, I would have any part of the top left.

Small pair of pruning shears might work.

I (I mean my husband ) uses a box cutter.

I use a Dremel tool. That way I only have to cut a hole as big as I want it.
