Male Platy

Can a male platy harass a female platy to death.

I have had my 2 female platy's die 2 weeks apart from one another.

In both case I think they were pregnant.

And were constantly being followed by the male. He was not not being overly aggressive to them but constantly following them around.

Could the stress of being pregnant and constantly being followed have killed these fish.

I do not have my water parameters in hand but I checked on Saturday morning after the death of my last female platy and the parameters were good.

yes they can. previous experience with platies and swordtails says an aggressive male is a killing male if he doesnt get what he wants. keep an eye out for other things like diseases though, just in case x

I noticed the same thing when I used to breed guppies. It's unfortunate but there is really nothing else you can do but separate them.

Well hes humped both females to death.... I guess its sorta my fault for naming my male platy Han Solo... The biggest player & scoundrel in the Galaxy.
