Hi,

Ok so I know this is a type of algae formed by rolling along river beds, etc.

My question is: I have heard these balls take up nutrients other algae would use and therefore slow algae growth in the tank. If this is true would they also take up nutrients my plant could use or would they just affect algae. I don't want to add them if they will adversely affect my plants but would like a couple!?

Thanks in advance.

Algae and plants use the exact same resources. If you're worried about it, you can always add more ferts.
