marine land light ?

so i bought a marineland led light for my tank it has a day shimmer mode and a moon light shimmer mode and i am curious if i have to turn both lights off at night or if i can just turn off the day light off and use the moon light function as my night time light

I have moonlights i leave on all night. They are very dim though so it really looks like night.
